Bell Valley
Homestead
Welcome
The Bell Valley Homestead: the grand commitment by a large urban family to move to a small 2 acre homestead to practice self sufficiency through permaculture.
We are reawakening heavily farmed mono cropped land into a thriving integrated ecosystem of land and people through holistic solutions with conscious design and land management practices.

Our Homestead
Bell Valley Homestead was founded in 2019 by Changa & Devonna Bell. We landed a beautiful--35 mile, north east--ride outside of Baltimore City on 2 acres of land. Already ripe for permaculture with a well, windmill, solar power, pond and wooded areas, we felt empowered to start with the simple task of growing everything we eat. However, we dug in, and found clay! After decades of heavy farming the large Bachman Farm was parceled to buyers. The compacted soil made the first growing season hardly productive. So began our journey to regenerate the soil.

The Om Space
A Holistic Education Centere
The Om Space is a hub for people & programs to transform their community through holistic self-development mindfulness/yoga practices. Whilst most of our programming takes place in inner cities we created a retreat nestled in the farmland of Central Maryland. Organizations, executive teams, and individuals come to integrate holistic education for optimal being and performance.

Homesteader's Market
Direct Mail
There are two ways to purchase goods and the harvest here at the homestead.
1.Check out our online store to purchase eggs, honey, tea and merch for yourself or as a gift!
2. We offer subscriptions to the harvest. How do that work? We simply invite you to join us on this journey. Watch our (DIY and educational) videos on the Bell Valley Homestead YouTube Channel. Share a laugh on our TikTok. Be inspired by the beauty captured on Instagram. Finally enjoy the harvest. Every 2 weeks we put together veggie boxes, meet up at historic Morgan Park and Midtown, and pick up your veggie box full of at least 5 lbs of harvest.
History of CSA
Community-supported agriculture (CSA model) or cropsharing is a system that connects the producer and consumers within the food system more closely by allowing the consumer to subscribe to the harvest of a certain farm or group of farms.
In return for subscribing to a harvest, subscribers receive either a weekly or bi-weekly box of produce or other farm goods. This includes in-season fruits and vegetables and can expand to dried goods, eggs, milk, meat, etc. Typically, farmers try to cultivate a relationship with subscribers by sending weekly letters of what is happening on the farm, inviting them for harvest, or holding an open-farm event. Some CSAs provide for contributions of labor in lieu of a portion of subscription costs
